Our History

1948

Lee Jasper and Romain Stewart became partners raising turkeys and running a small Turkey processing plant located in Newman, CA.

1956

Outgrew turkey plant in Newman and bought a much larger processing plant in Modesto, CA.

1957

Planted first almond orchard, 100 acres.

1960

Raising 100,000 turkeys a year and 100,000 chickens, and operating one of the largest turkey processing plants in California.

1967

Exited out of the poultry business, and sold the processing plant. Jim Jasper returned from college and the farming business started to expand.

1977

Farming approximately 500 acres of almonds. Made decision to build an Almond Huller.

1990

Started processing and marketing Stewart & Jasper and its neighbors’ almonds. Farming almonds had grown to 2,000 acres and walnuts to 500 acres.

1997

Romain Stewart passed away. In the fall, the Plant 2 Huller/Sheller was built.

1998

Jim’s son Jason returned to the family business after college and brought his passion for adding value to almonds. By this time, Stewart & Jasper was handling about 2% of California’s almond production.

2000

Lee Jasper passed away. Newman Company Store opened its doors in Newman, CA at our headquarters.

2003

Retail Warehouse was built.

2003

Stewart & Jasper was featured on the Food Network’s Unwrapped episode featuring our famous Cinnamon Glazed Almonds.

2006

Patterson Company Store opened in the Del Lago Plaza in Patterson, CA.

2008

Monterey Company Store opened on Cannery Row in Monterey, CA

2010

1 Megawatt Solar Panel Tracker System was built.

2011

After being a pop-up seasonal store for many years, our Modesto Company Store found it's permanent location in the McHenry Village in Modesto, CA

2013

0.77 Megawatt Fixed Tilt Solar Panel was built.

2014

New Plant 1 Huller was built.
