Jeff Meyer

What is your full name?
Jeff Meyer

What is your role at S&J
Officially, my title here at Stewart & Jasper is Controller, but my duties and responsibilities have extended far beyond those of a standard controller.  I am involved at every level of our organization from human resources to production, from grower relations to capital improvements, from financial matters to insurance matters, and numerous other layers in between.  I also proudly serve as a member of the Board of Directors, which is a duty I take very seriously.

What is your hometown?
I was born and raised in Modesto, California.

What is your favorite product that we make?
Anything with dark chocolate, and I will never turn down a simple bag of roasted salted almonds.

How long have you worked for Stewart & Jasper?
I have been with Stewart & Jasper since April of 2013.

What jobs have you held during your time at Stewart & Jasper?
I came on board as the Controller, a position that never really existed until I showed up.  The job has grown to encompass many facets of our organization, so I feel as if I have served in a variety of roles as the company has grown over the past few years.  As a CPA, I have naturally focused on the many varied tax and accounting issues that affect an organization like Stewart & Jasper.

What’s your favorite thing about working at Stewart & Jasper?
Well, of course the availability of some of the finest California almonds and unique specialty almond products around makes this one of my favorite places, but honestly, the people that make up this organization truly make it special every day.

Why do you think Stewart & Jasper has been so successful? What has made you successful during your time here?
There is culture here at Stewart & Jasper that intrigued me from the first time I visited.  That culture consists of strong values that have been pushed deep into our organization by its founders and its present ownership team.  The Jasper family has fostered an environment that promotes these values of integrity, hard work, long-term relationships and innovation.  A focus on people and a desire to provide an environment where employees are encouraged to learn, grow, and thrive in their respective capacities has certainly contributed to the company’s success.

What do you do in your spare time?
I have been super involved with young people for over 25 years, serving in junior high and high school ministries as a volunteer leader and youth pastor.  I am also a drummer and I still love to play whenever I have the chance.  Movies, good food, hanging out with family and enjoying the blessing of great friends are all things I focus on in my spare time!

Tell us about your family.
My wife Kim and I have been married since 1983, and we have been blessed with three talented and amazing sons, three extraordinary daughters-in-law who each add a beautiful dynamic to our family, and three very smart, very handsome grandsons who will change the world someday.  Everyone lives close and we enjoy every bit of time we are able to spend with one another.

What else do you want to say about working here that we didn’t ask?
As a grower, a huller/sheller, a processor, a regional retailer and a global marketer, Stewart & Jasper is one of the most dynamic companies I have ever been associated with.  At the same time, it is one of the most down-to-earth, no-nonsense, purpose-driven organizations that I am aware of.  Its intentional focus on long-term relationships, either with our many fine growers, our exceptional employees, or our numerous global trading partners, makes S&J a prominent force in the almond industry.
