Trucking: Our modern fleet of radio dispatched trucks insures timely transportation of harvested crops from the orchard to our facility.
Hulling: When the product arrives at our facility, the incoming weight is certified. From there it is pre-cleaned, and the hulling process begins. The huller removes the soft outer hull of the nut. Our modern equipment is capable of hulling up to 300,000 pounds per day. The mountains of hulls we generate from this process are sold as cattle feed. This helps to keep agricultural waste to a minimum.
Shelling: Once the nuts are hulled they continue on to the next step, which is to remove the hard shell. This process is executed with state of the art technology. Experienced employees monitor the shelling process to ensure the kernel is not damaged. Stewart & Jasper has the capability to also shell up to 300,000 lbs per day, if necessary.
Sizing: After the hulls and shell have been removed from the nuts, sizing decks calibrate the kernels by size, and separates them into large wooden bins. The product then goes into storage, awaiting packing.
